COMING
SEPTEMBER 2008.
Colossians is a character-driven
space opera. It's set in the Embassy System, a galactic hub of business
and cultural exchange, with several inhabitable planets, moons and asteroids.
It is here that the reader is introduced to the unwitting personalities
that are on the verge of something that could rock all civilization
as we know it.
In the first
issue you'll meet the Manx (above), a tough-as-nails chick with a heart
of gold and a sordid history she's trying to leave behind. There's also
Foxx, a crafty self-reliant pirate and opportunist, and Jason Foster,
aka Savage, a young man with special secret abilities who is indebted
to Foxx for saving his life. Their paths will collide over the actions
of a religious zealot named Trogg, who's made a long list of enemies.
As the series
progresses, and as many questions get answered, the players will have
to do some serious soul-searching and make radical decisions that will
tear apart friendships- as well as the universe as they know it! The
characters will evolve and develop naturally and realistically- there
are no Brady Bunch endings here. Believe me, what we've got planned
for the Manx, Foxx and Blam will NOT be expected, as well as the elements
that will be revealed about Jason's past.
Colossians
is my own pet project, that's literally about 25 years in the making.
The concept made a stumbling appearance in Cross Press Comics Magazine
#1, which was the 1995 precursor to Megazeen. Characters
have also appeared in Megazeen #1 and #3. However, it's
best you forget about all of that, because those appearances have no
relevance to what you'll see in Colossians #1.
One of the major
cool things for me, working on this, is that some of my favorite Megazeen
artists have rallied behind the project to make it happen. It is literally
an all-star comic of artists doing what they are all very, very good
at. The first issue is penciled by Kneon Transitt, written and iked
by Joe Endres, colored by Hale Burhkin and Mark Melton, with cover by
Jeff Slemons. The second issue s tentatively penciled by Dan Barlow.
The plan is to allow the story to develop in four-issue intervals.
Look for the
first issue in late 2008, and issue 2 in 2009.
